The S. T. Hudson Engineers team is growing and we are looking for a Hydrographic Survey Technician (1+ years’ experience) to support our marine positioning, hydrographic, and geophysical survey projects. This is a Nearshore/Offshore position with vessel related data acquisition duties at locations across United States waters as required.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain a safe work site through following HSEQ requirements and leading by example.
  • Acquire hydrographic and/or geophysical survey data in the field on marine vessels.
  • Mobilization & calibration of hydrographic and geophysical systems on marine survey vessels.
  • Complete regular inspection, repair, and maintenance on survey systems.
  • Basic computer networking, troubleshooting, and interfacing skills.
  • Perform other vessel and survey related field duties as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) years relevant experience in Hydrographic Surveying, or an applicable Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics, Surveying, or Hydrography.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must reside in the U.S.A.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Bachelor's degree in Geomatics, Hydrography, Marine Science, Geosciences, Civil Engineering or closely related field strongly preferred.
  • Experience utilizing positioning systems, marine hydrographic & geophysical survey systems, and related software packages for GPS/GNSS, singlebeam sonars, multibeam sonars, sound velocity profilers, side scan sonars, magnetometers, sub-bottom profilers, acoustic positioning and shallow seismic systems.
  • Willing to travel to projects and perform field work on marine vessels, and ability to travel domestically as assigned.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical ability to work on a marine survey vessel including lifting of items up to 50 pounds.
